Seed Saving and GMOs

Farmers' Market 3-7pm and Local 301: Urban Agriculture Workshop Series at 7pm on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Ever wondered how to save seeds and why it's important to do? Have questions about GMOs, where they might be showing up in your food and how to avoid them? Would you like to know more about what actions you can take to work toward achieving food security and seed sovereignty?

Janet Melrose of the Calgary Horticultural Society will be leading a hands-on seed saving how-to and Kris Vester of Blue Mountain Biodynamic Farms and President of Slow Food Calgary will take a look at how seed saving fits into the bigger picture food system, how GMOs are threatening seed sovereignty and how this will impact our food security now and in the future.
